- Hip Mama: The Parenting Zine is a quarterly magazine dealing with the practice and principles of motherhood from an alternative, “hip” perspective. Originally founded by Ariel Gore in Oakland, California, in 1993, the magazine has relocated to Portland, Oregon, with Kerlin Richter taking over as editor and publisher.
