- Disability is an impairment that limits one or more basic functions such as seeing, hearing, walking, communicating, processing information, or caring for oneself. Disability can also be seen as the barrier individuals face in architectural designs, practices, or attitudes that were based on a conception of human functioning that excludes those with disabilities.
