Définition
- As entrenched as the concept of the two-day weekend now seems, the weekend is quite a recent invention. In western Europe as well as in the United States, the stretch of nonwork time from Friday night to Monday morning only became standard after World War II, and in practice the free weekend has never extended to all workers, particularly those in retail, entertainment, and other services.
