Parents Music Resource Center
Définition
- The Parents Music Resource Center (PMRC) was founded in May 1985 to raise awareness among parents about the profane, violent, and sexually explicit lyrics of some popular music that reached a mass audience of children and adolescents in the United States. Although a voluntary record labeling system was implemented in the 1980s by the record industry in response to PMRC pressure, the center failed to produce self-restraint within the record industry in the long term.
