  • Oral literature, or oral mediums, are stories that are or have been transmitted in spoken forms, such as a public recitation, rather than through the medium of writing. Many societies, both pre-literate and literate, have a tradition of oral literature that includes short folktales, legends, myths, proverbs, and riddles.
