right to bear arms
Définition
- an American right, grounded in the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, allowing every citizen to own and possess firearms. Despite arguments that the right to bear arms is constitutionally guaranteed, some critics counter that the need for an armed militia in the 1700s is obviated by armed forces.
