job queues theory

Définition

  • After more than a century-long battle to provide equal work opportunities for all people, a process that includes contested legislation, sweeping laws, and significant demographic shifts, there remains a persistent difference in the structure of the job market across nations: Minority groups are still more likely to fill jobs at the lower end of the employment scale. Queuing theory offers one explanation for the stratification of labor markets by examining the labor market processes that influence the distribution of workers and lead to the over-representation of minority workers in lower-paying, less-prestigious jobs.
