False Claims Act

Définition

  • The False Claims Act is a Civil War-era statute (it was signed by President Abraham Lincoln in 1863) that has been used frequently since the 1980s in the effort to fight health care fraud. The original law was used to prosecute defense contractors who failed to supply the Union Army with promised goods or who delivered goods that were shoddy.
