Définition
- Department that investigates violations of federal law (ranging from income tax evasion to criminal syndicates), supervises the custody of those accused or convicted of federal crimes, oversees legal and illegal aliens, and directs U.S. domestic security against threats of foreign or internal subversion. Justice polices narcotics trafficking; helps state and local governments expand and improve police departments, courts, and correctional institutions (through federal aid); advises the president and other government agencies on legal matters; and drafts legislation.
