Définition
- Racial and ethnic minorities in the United States experience prejudice and discrimination, and these experiences affect how children and adolescents think about themselves. Despite the myth of a the United States as a “melting pot” in which the identities of diverse racial and ethnic groups are hypothesized to dissolve into single American identity, children and adolescents define their sense of self in relationship to their ethnic/racial group membership.
