  • The financial costs and benefits of crime prevention present important issues nationally and internationally, but study of this subject remains a relatively neglected area of research. In recent years in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and other industrialized nations, there has been a growing interest on the part of governments and other stakeholders in identifying the monetary value of crime prevention measures through the use of economic evaluation techniques such as benefit-cost analysis.
