  • The Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP) was created with the passage of the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act (EESA) on October 3, 2008. The program represents one of several emergency measures taken by the federal government in response to the crisis that hit the U.S. economy and the financial sector, in particular, that year.
