- "ACT-R is a theory of the mechanisms that make up cognition, a cognitive architecture. The theory posits a fixed set of mechanisms that use task knowledge to perform a task thereby predicting and explaining the steps of cognition that form human behavior. Currently, it also predicts the activation of brain regions used to generate behavior by using mechanisms that make use of procedural (how to do a task) and declarative (facts about the world) knowledge, and working memory as activation, to perform tasks."
