Ejemplo

  • An example of a procedure for a Stroop task consists in presenting the participant with a series of words written in different ink colors. The participant is asked to name the color of the ink with which the words are written. In the congruent condition, the word and the ink color match. For example, the word “red” is written in red, and the participant must respond “red”. In the incongruent condition, the word and ink color do not match. For example, the word “yellow” is written in blue and the participant must answer “blue”. In this case, subjects tend to respond by the color denoted by the word and not by the color of the ink. The difference in performance (response time or errors) between these conditions is used to measure the Stroop effect, which reflects the cognitive conflict and the capacity to inhibit an automatic response.
