Definition
- The Thuringian is an ancient subdivision of the geological time scale, which in today's nomenclature groups together the Guadalupian and Lopingian epochs. Its stratotype is characterized by pyritic schists and Thuringian dolomitic limestone. The Thuringian corresponds to the Upper Permian and the Zechstein.
