Concept information
Preferred term
accumulation
Definition
- Continental accumulation results of fluvial, glacial or eolian activities. Wind and water from run-off or various flows, including solid matter (ice), are likely to develop ablation, transport and deposition actions at each point of their trajectories, depending on the balance that is established between the energy they have and their load. Marine accumulations result either from sedimentation or from biological construction (Adapted and translated from: https://www.universalis.fr/encyclopedie/accumulations-geologie-accumulations-continentales/ and https://www.universalis.fr/encyclopedie/accumulations-geologie-accumulations-marines/)
