Definition
- In biology, carbon source refers to the molecules used by an organism as the source of carbon for building its biomass. A carbon source can be an organic compound or an inorganic compound. From an ecological point of view, a carbon source or CO2 source is an element (or a process on that element) that releases carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.
