Definition
- The Senonian is a subdivision (Late Cretaceous) of the geological time scale, grouping together the Coniacian, Santonian, Campanian and Maastrichtian. Its stratotype is characterized by the Sens white chalk. This division takes its name from the Senon people who inhabited the Sens region in Yonne (France).
