Plio-Pleistocene

Definición

  • The Plio-Pleistocene is a period of geological transition between the end of the Pliocene and the beginning of the Pleistocene, two eras belonging to the Tertiary and Quaternary eras respectively. This period spans approximately 1 to 3 million years. It was characterised by major climatic changes, in particular the appearance of the first ice ages. The geological formations dating from the Plio-Pleistocene bear witness to these environmental upheavals and allow us to study the processes that shaped our planet at that time.
