chalk

Definición

  • Chalk is a soft, white, porous, sedimentary carbonate rock. It is a form of limestone composed of the mineral calcite (CaCO3) and originally formed deep under the sea by the compression of microscopic plankton (foraminifera, coccolithophores, etc...) that had settled to the sea floor. Chalk was formed in the Cretaceous, between 99 and 65 million years ago. (Adapted from: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chalk)
