Vendian

Definición

  • The Vendian is an informal geological stage comprising the Varangian and Ediacaran. In this sense, it extends from -650 to -542 Ma. But the term can also refer to the two glaciations of Moelv and Mortenses, visible in Norway, and was also proposed in 2005 to denote the entire upper part of the Ediacaran, from -582.1 Ma to -542.6 Ma. Moreover, in the geology of the Siberian craton, the Vendian follows on from the Riphaean, which is an informal stage grouping together the Ectasian, Stenian and Tonian periods, from around -1,400 Ma to -800 Ma. The notion of Vendian fauna refers to Ediacaran fauna. (Adapted and translated from: https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vendien)
