teleconnection

Définition

  • Teleconnection is a concept in meteorology and climatology that refers to the links between weather or climate phenomena occurring simultaneously in different distant regions. These interrelationships may be caused by atmospheric or oceanic mechanisms, or a combination of both. Teleconnections are important for understanding large-scale climate variability and predicting long-term weather trends. Examples of teleconnections include the El Niño phenomenon and the Southern Oscillation (ENSO), which influences the global climate with repercussions on temperatures, precipitation and extreme events such as droughts or floods.
