- The interrelationships that exist among organisms, not only those derived from comparisons made by taxonomists, but also those developed by the organisms themselves through interactions. These interactions may be of various kinds: genetic and developmental (in crosses between organisms referred to different taxa), ecological (competitive exclusion, parasitism, host or feeding specificity), chorological (sympatry, parapatry and allopatry), etc. (Dubois 2004)
