- In the nomenclatural hierarchy, the nominal-series ranked between the species-series and the family-series. It includes taxa at the ranks of genus and subgenus. (Dubois 2000)

- Code: Genus group: In the hierarchy of classification the group of taxa ranked between the family group and the species group. The genus group includes taxa at the ranks of genus and subgenus. Names for collective groups, and for ichnotaxa established at the genus-group level, are treated as genus-group names.
