Definition
- Ending of a nomen that is liable to change according to the ergotaxonomy adopted. Two situations: 1) species-series epithet being an adjective or a past participle: suffix indicating the grammatical gender of the epithet; 2) family-series nomen: ending indicating the rank, composed of two parts: the connector and the suffix proper.
