Definition

  • In the nomenclatural hierarchy, the lowest-ranking nominal-series which is fully regulated by the Code, ranked below the genus-series. It includes nomina of taxa at the ranks of species, subspecies, species aggregate and subspecies aggregate. (Dubois 2000)
